Learning to study the Bible is important. Studying in community multiplies the learning.
You may care deeply about Scripture and want to grow in your understanding, but hesitate when it comes to studying in community. Uncertainty about where you fit or whether you’re prepared enough can make it easier to stay in familiar rhythms.
Steady On University is for women who are ready to move from studying alone to engaging Scripture alongside others in an intentional rhythm. Together, we return to God’s Word week after week to uncover layers we haven’t yet seen and allow Scripture to reshape how we think and live.
Many women arrive here feeling something like this…
She loves God and wants to know His Word more deeply, but isn’t sure where to start.
She’s tired of Bible studies that skim the surface, yet hesitant to join spaces that feel intense or intimidating.
She’s drawn to the idea of community, but past experiences make her cautious.
She has thoughts and questions, but isn’t sure where there’s room to speak honestly.
She longs for Bible study that is both challenging and grace-filled.
A woman is ready to join SOU when she believes…
It’s okay to wrestle honestly with questions of faith rather than having everything figured out
Growth in Bible study happens through encouragement and practice, not perfection
Her spiritual gifts can be shared and shaped in community, even while they’re still developing
Studying Scripture doesn’t require performance or spiritual polish
She’s eager to link arms with other women who are intentionally growing in their understanding and application of the Bible
She values a faith community that is focused on Scripture rather than hidden agendas or church politics
What Kind of Space is SOU?
Steady On University is a Scripture-centered online Bible study community that gathers regularly to practice studying God’s Word together. Each lesson focuses on a specific passage, and we slow down to observe, reflect, and apply it thoughtfully. The pace is intentional, because regular return to Scripture matters more than intensity.
When we gather, there is teaching, guided study, and space for discussion. Participation is encouraged but never required. Some women speak often; others listen and reflect. Over time, women become familiar with one another’s voices, burdens, and growth. Connection forms through shared engagement with God’s Word.
At its core, SOU creates space for consistent, communal study that shapes us in ways we often don’t anticipate. What feels ordinary at first becomes deeply formative over time.
What Does “Studying Together” Actually Mean?
Each SOU study includes weekly lessons anchored in a single verse of Scripture.
Throughout the week, members work through four days of content at their own pace. The lessons are intentionally concise and designed to fit into real life. Each week includes supporting Scripture readings, a podcast teaching, written devotions, personal reflection, and completion of the anchor verse study using the Step By Step inductive Bible study method.
Our weekly rhythm looks like this:
Monday
A short check-in teaching from a member of the Step By Step teaching team
Tuesday
Step By Step LIVE on Zoom, led by Angie and the teaching team, with guided teaching, discussion, and space for questions. Multiple sessions are offered and members can select which one works best in their schedule.
Wednesday
Angie’s wrap-up with announcements and key takeaways
Thursday
The next lesson begins
Friday–Sunday
A quieter window to continue the study at your own pace
Workbooks are available for purchase on Amazon, though all lesson content is included with membership. Replays of every teaching and live session are provided.
What
SOU
is Not
Steady On University is not a quick fix or a program designed to solve life’s challenges in a few weeks. Spiritual growth is often gradual, and meaningful change happens through steady engagement with God’s Word over time.
SOU is not a passive experience. While flexibility is built into the rhythm, growth ultimately depends on your participation.
SOU is also not a loosely structured discussion group or personality-driven gathering. Our conversations remain anchored in Scripture. The Step By Step method keeps our focus on the text itself, rather than drifting into unrelated topics or relying on intensity or performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much of me is required?
A: Like most learning environments, what you receive from SOU will naturally reflect what you invest. Some women quietly work through the study materials and incorporate them into their personal routines. Others attend live sessions regularly, interact with the community on Circle, and take part in optional events like guest interviews or office hours. Both approaches are welcome.
For women who sense a growing desire to teach, SOU also provides opportunities to begin exercising that gift within the community.
Q: What if I fall behind?
A: Our goal in SOU is consistent Bible study, not perfection. Each lesson includes only four days of content, and we intentionally build breaks into our study rhythm to allow space for catching up. Members are always welcome to continue participating even if they’ve missed a few lessons.
Q: What if I can’t attend live sessions?
A: All live teachings and study sessions are recorded and made available for replay.
Q: What if I don’t talk during the studies?
A: Listening is welcome. Some members speak often, while others prefer to listen and reflect. Both forms of participation are valued.
Q: What if my season of life changes?
A: Many members step in and out of SOU as their schedules shift. You are welcome to participate in whatever way fits your current season.
Q: What if I need to pause or cancel my membership?
A: Membership can be paused or canceled directly within the Circle platform, and our team is always available if you need assistance.
Q: What if I’m new to serious Bible study?
A: You do not need to be a Bible expert to participate. The Step By Step method is designed to help women grow in confidence as they practice studying Scripture over time.
Q: What if I feel called to teach the Bible someday?
A: Some women inside SOU eventually sense a desire to teach Scripture. For those who want to explore that calling more intentionally, Angie offers the Bible Teacher Training Course, a separate cohort designed to help women grow in their ability to teach the Word faithfully. Participation in SOU is not required to apply, but many women appreciate developing their own study rhythm here first.
Q: What if I still have questions?
A: If you have a question that isn’t answered here, feel free to email us at steadyonuniversity@gmail.com. We’ll do our best to help.
Testimonials
Studying with the Step By Step method has reignited my passion for God’s Word. I used to do a quick skim over scripture before, but now I look forward to a deep dive on different words and I love every minute of it.
Angie’s format is so straightforward but at the same time, results a much deeper understanding of Scripture.
This method is such a great addition to my Bible study toolbox.
Digging into the meaning of words and passages helped me see not only what the text says, but also how it truly applies to daily life.
Angie’s method helped me connect the dots.
The Step By Step Method
Instead of trying to take in everything at once, we focus on one word in one verse of Scripture and walk through five clear steps that lead to meaningful, personal application.
Step 1: Choose Your Word
Step 2: Investigate
Step 3: Find the Character of God
Step 4: Identify the Lie of the Enemy
Step 5: So What?

The Path to Freedom
What if the patterns keeping you stuck are deeper than you realize?
We all have patterns we circle. Reactions we justify. Thoughts we rehearse. Habits we defend.
The Path to Freedom guides you through a Scripture-centered process of recognizing these patterns and allowing Christ to untangle what has been forming you beneath the surface.
Each week offers a simple rhythm of study, helping you slow down, understand what you’re reading, and take steps towards freedom.
Hello, I’m Angie Baughman.
Guiding women in consistent Bible study for more than twenty years.
I am a pastor, Bible teacher, podcaster, author, speaker, founder of Steady On, and creator of the Step By Step Bible study method.
But before any of those roles, I am simply a woman whose life has been deeply shaped by studying the Word of God.
I began seriously studying Scripture in 2000 when I was introduced to inductive
Bible study through Precept Ministries. That experience changed the way I approached the Bible. I later became certified to teach Precept studies and have led hundreds of Bible study classes over the past two decades.
Through all those years of studying and teaching, a few things have become very clear to me.
First, the enemy does not want us to know the Word of God. Distractions, busyness, and discouragement often stand between us and consistent time in Scripture.
Second, healing, clarity, and spiritual strength are found in the Word of God. But we must be intentional about creating space to return to it regularly.
That conviction is what led me to create Steady On University.
Inside SOU, you will certainly find solid Bible teaching and thoughtful study tools.
But just as importantly, you will find something many women are missing: a supportive structure and community that helps make consistent Bible study a real part of everyday life.
Because over time, returning to God’s Word again and again begins to shape how we think, how we respond, and how we live.
Is Steady On University the right fit?
Steady On University tends to serve women well who want to grow in their understanding of Scripture through thoughtful study. Women who appreciate returning to God’s Word week after week often find this rhythm deeply meaningful.
SOU may be a good fit if you are someone who:
- wants to understand the Bible more deeply, not just read it quickly
- appreciates simple rhythms of study rather than short bursts of intensity
- is willing to grow alongside other women who are also learning
- values thoughtful engagement with Scripture more than having quick answers
- wants encouragement and structure to help you remain consistent in God’s Word
If you are primarily looking for a highly social discussion group, a short-term program focused on solving a specific life challenge, or a study that moves quickly through large portions of Scripture, another environment may serve you better.
